Marks, mark sheets and report cards in hours, not weeks

The end of term stops being a race against Excel. In Escola360, teachers enter the marks, the system calculates the averages using the school's rules, and school leadership approves mark sheets and report cards before they reach families. Attendance taken on a phone, timetables, students at risk and the honour roll all live in the same place, and families are notified by SMS, push or WhatsApp.

Mark sheets without broken formulas

In many schools, every teacher has their own Excel sheet, averages are redone by hand and report cards take weeks. When a parent complains about a wrong mark, nobody knows where the mistake was made.

Without a system

  • Mark sheets in Excel with broken formulas, copied from one year to the next.
  • Teachers handing in marks late, and school leadership only finding out on the last day.
  • Report cards that take weeks to prepare and reach families with mistakes.
  • Paper registers, and absences that are only noticed at the end of term.
  • Separate mark sheets for the national curriculum and for Cambridge or IB, done twice.
  • Families who only find out about absences and failing marks at the parents' meeting.

With Escola360

  • Averages calculated by the system, always with the same rule for every student.
  • School leadership sees, subject by subject, who has entered marks and who is behind.
  • Mark sheets and report cards ready to sign at the end of term, in hours.
  • Attendance taken by the teacher on a phone, and students with too many absences spotted early.
  • National curriculum, Cambridge and IB in the same school, each with its own report card.
  • Parents notified by SMS, push or WhatsApp when there are absences or marks are published.

The school's whole academic record in one system

School year and timetables

Terms, public holidays and special days set once. Each class has its weekly timetable, including activity periods.

Classes and teachers

Several classes created in one go, teachers assigned by subject and a class teacher named. Each teacher sees only their own classes.

Attendance by phone

The teacher takes the register on a phone, in the classroom, in seconds. School leadership has the daily list of absentees, and students with too many absences show up before it is too late.

Mark entry with deadlines

Teachers enter each term's assessments (AS and AT, with the MAS and MF averages), as configured by the school and within the deadlines set by school leadership.

Configurable average formulas

The final average follows the school's own regulations, on the 0 to 20 scale, and is calculated the same way for everyone.

Review before publishing

The teacher submits, the coordinators review and school leadership approves. No mark reaches families without going through the school.

Mark sheets ready to sign

Class mark sheet, subject mark sheet and annual mark sheet in PDF, in the format of the SNE, Mozambique's National Education System.

National and international report cards

An individual report card per student, approved one by one or for the whole class, in the SNE, Cambridge or IB format, each curriculum with its own document.

Students at risk

Struggling students identified before the end of term, with the progress of the student and of the class throughout the year.

Families told in good time

Absences, marks and published report cards reach parents by SMS, push notification or WhatsApp, and students follow everything in their own app.

Honour roll

The top students worked out with the criteria set by the school, with awards at different levels. It recognises teachers too.

From preschool to Grade 12, in one system

Escola360 issues mark sheets and report cards in the SNE, Cambridge and IB formats, and adapts to each school's grades, assessments and rules.

An end-of-term week, with Escola360

Monday, 7.30 am. The head of academics opens the mark entry dashboard and sees that the Biology AT for Grade 9 A is missing. Instead of going round the staff room with a paper list, she speaks directly to the teacher concerned. By Wednesday, every subject has been submitted.

The coordinators review the marks, school leadership approves and the averages are already calculated. Nobody redid the sums on a calculator. The class mark sheets come out in PDF, ready to sign, and the national curriculum and Cambridge report cards are approved for the whole class in one go.

On Friday, the report card is published and Kelvin's mother gets the alert on her phone. She reads it in the Escola360 app for parents before the parents' meeting has even taken place and, in the same app, sees the term's absences and explains the one from the day her son was ill. Kelvin sees the same marks in the student app.

Built with Mozambican schools

Oelza Massinga
“Going digital reinforced what we have always demanded of ourselves: quality, transparency and closeness to families. More than adopting Escola360, we had the opportunity to take part in building it, contributing our experience to the development of a solution aligned with the reality of schools in Mozambique. Today, the platform is part of how our school runs every day, and it is a solution I recommend to other school leaders looking to make their management more efficient, organised and modern.”

Frequently asked questions

Does Escola360 follow the SNE assessment rules?

Yes. Mark sheets and report cards follow the format of the SNE, Mozambique's National Education System, on the 0 to 20 scale, and the average formulas are configured according to the school's regulations.

Can we use our own average formulas?

Yes. The AS and AT assessments and the MAS and MF averages are configured by the school according to its regulations, and the system applies the same rule to every student.

We have students on the national curriculum and on Cambridge or IB. Are the report cards different?

Yes. Escola360 handles the SNE, Cambridge and IB in the same school and issues the national report card and the international report card as separate documents.

Do parents see the marks before school leadership approves them?

No. Marks and the report card only appear in the parent app after the school has reviewed and published them.

Are parents notified when a student is absent?

Yes. The teacher takes attendance on a phone and the family is notified by SMS, push notification or WhatsApp, depending on how the school sets it up.

When we move to the new school year, do we have to set everything up again?

No. Grades, subjects and the school's structure stay in the system and are reused from year to year; you only adjust the classes, the teachers and the timetable.

Can school leadership tell which teachers have not yet entered their marks?

Yes. A dashboard shows, by class and subject, which teachers have handed in their marks and which are behind.

Escola360 is a product of the MS360 platform, developed by Modern Solutions 360, Lda, a Mozambican consulting firm headquartered in Maputo, with experience implementing information systems in several African countries. We know the calendar of the National Education System, the requirements of the Tax Authority and what a school office looks like in enrolment season, because we have been on the ground with schools since 2016.

  • Consulting method Every implementation follows a phased plan, with the school leadership signing off each stage.
